Explore on foot or tour by free minibus. You can take the minibus up to the Memorial Pavilion at the top of the gardens from where are spectacular views across the New Territories, then follow the trails back down. You can spend at least half a day there. Avoid weekends and make sure to buy the guide map at reception (it is possible to get lost on foot). Easy to get to, on frequent 64K bus route from Tai Po to Yuen Long, which can be joined at Tai Po Market, Tai Wo, Kam Sheung Road MTR Stations and also near to Yuen Long Station; www.kmb.hk/en/services/search.html?busno=64K.
